Midwest Shrine Association 2011

Winnipeg Manitoba

Canada

 Winter session, February 10-12

Summer session August 3-6

The Mission of the Midwest Shrine Association is to promote greater fellowship among the several M.S.A Shrine Centers and their members, and to secure recognition of the Shrine institution throughout the territory of this association.

The Midwest Shrine Association holds an annual business meeting in early February. Those attending the session are the Shrine Center executive officers and key committee heads. Today the Midwest Shrine Association has fourteen Shrine Centers; 2 Canadian centers in the Provinces of Manitoba / Ontario and Saskatchewan, and 12 U.S. centers Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. Combined, these Shrine centers have approximately 20,000 members.  We also have an additional 20 Shrine associations throughout the United States and Canada.

We welcome all Nobles and Ladies from the Midwest Shrine Centers to come to Winnipeg in 2011. We will be putting on a great party in the summer of 2011. At the summer convention you will be able to witness a series of competitions that will include Chanters, Oriental bands and Clowns, and Motorized units, Pipes and Drums, Foot patrols, and of course the Horse patrol.

We at Khartum Shrine are working very hard to make sure that you are going to have a great time, and we have a large committee working for you!     Thats Our Mission

We will be updating our Web page to make sure that you will have all the information that you will need.

The Imperial Shrine of North America recognizes 20 regional Shrine Associations. These Associations allow individual Shrine Centers to join together for fun, fellowship and camaraderie. It also allows Shriners an opportunity to share ideas on how to improve Shrinedom in their areas. At many of the Association conventions Shrine Units compete against one another for who is the best, Chanters, Bands, Clowns, Motorized Units, Pipes & Drums, Foot Patrols, Horse Units, etc.

In 1937, Khartum was given jurisdiction over the Lakehead and Northern Ontario areas, which extended the Temple’s jurisdiction from the Saskatchewan border to approximately 120 miles east of Thunder Bay.

Today the Midwest Shrine Association (MSA) has 12 Shrine Centers covering the American States of Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin and the Canadian Provinces of Saskatchewan and Manitoba. These 12 Centers have a combined membership of about 20,000 Shriners.

The Midwest Shrine Association (MSA) holds an annual business meeting in early February. Those attending normally are the Shrine Officers along with committee heads who have an interest in topics to be covered at the session. The average attendance is about 250 Shriners. The summer session is normally held in mid to late August, on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The sessions usually include two major all-Shriner parades and time for Shrine Unit competitions. All MSA Shriners are invited to attend. In recent years attendance has averaged 2,000 to 2,500, of which two-thirds are Shriners and the balance Shriner Ladies and family members. A different Center hosts these meeting each year.
